Power Distribution Unit Meter Check

The power distribution unit check reads the meter and confirms breaker labels against the panel schedule, with the dead-front on. The technician writes the as-found reading and compares it with the last one on the asset. Do not open an energized dead-front or reset a breaker under load. Anything past that line belongs to the site's own procedure, the OEM manual, or a permit. This is the inspection ChatterFix schedules. It is not itself permission to go further.

The Procedure

The steps ChatterFix schedules for this PM. Every step is a checkable item on the work order — a technician can speak their way through it without touching a keyboard.

  1. Read the meter on the distribution unit and record it
  2. Look at receptacle condition and the ground you can see with the dead-front on
  3. Confirm breaker labels match the site's panel schedule
  4. Do not open an energized dead-front or reset a breaker under load
  5. A hot smell or a discolored breaker is a finding, and the unit stays closed

Why This PM Exists

The power distribution unit check reads the meter and confirms breaker labels against the panel schedule, with the dead-front on. The technician writes the as-found reading and compares it with the last one on the asset. Do not open an energized dead-front or reset a breaker under load. Anything past that line belongs to the site's own procedure, the OEM manual, or a permit. This is the inspection ChatterFix schedules. It is not itself permission to go further.

What Skipping It Looks Like

A discolored breaker gets reset because the load 'has to come back', and the cover comes off on a live board. The round still closes, the number never lands on the asset, and the next person inherits a guess. Do not open an energized dead-front or reset a breaker under load.

Setting the interval

Every ninety days. A hot smell or a discolored breaker is a finding, and the unit stays closed. An as-found reading outside the limit the site already published is a finding. It does not become a new setpoint on this work order.

Common Questions

How often should this PM run?
Quarterly. Every ninety days. A hot smell or a discolored breaker is a finding, and the unit stays closed. An as-found reading outside the limit the site already published is a finding. It does not become a new setpoint on this work order.
How long does it take?
Budget about 1.0 hour for a technician working to the standard procedure. ChatterFix uses that estimate for capacity planning, then learns your plant's actual time from completed work orders.
What happens if we skip it?
A discolored breaker gets reset because the load 'has to come back', and the cover comes off on a live board. The round still closes, the number never lands on the asset, and the next person inherits a guess. Do not open an energized dead-front or reset a breaker under load.
Can I use this checklist in ChatterFix?
