Patient Lift Sling and Rail Check

The patient lift check is the sling, the rail end-stops, and a travel test with nobody in the sling. The technician writes the as-found reading and compares it with the last one on the asset. Do not load the lift with a person under this work order. Anything past that line belongs to the site's own procedure, the OEM manual, or a permit. This is the inspection ChatterFix schedules. It is not itself permission to go further.

The Procedure

The steps ChatterFix schedules for this PM. Every step is a checkable item on the work order — a technician can speak their way through it without touching a keyboard.

  1. Inspect the sling bar, straps and hooks against the manufacturer's wear limits
  2. Confirm the rail end-stops are in place and the battery seats
  3. Test the lift unloaded: up, down, and the emergency lowering the site names
  4. Do not load the lift with a person under this work order
  5. Remove a damaged sling from service and tag it

What Skipping It Looks Like

A frayed sling stays on the bar because a patient is already waiting and the motor still runs. The round still closes, the number never lands on the asset, and the next person inherits a guess. Do not load the lift with a person under this work order.

Setting the interval

Monthly, unloaded. A damaged sling comes out of service and gets tagged. An as-found reading outside the limit the site already published is a finding. It does not become a new setpoint on this work order.
