Fines accumulate in plenums, screens and ducts and become the fuel path. Burner faults produce uneven drying that leaves wet pockets in an otherwise dry bin — the classic setup for spoilage, crusting and the bridged grain that later kills someone during bin entry. An uncalibrated moisture sensor makes every drying decision wrong in the same direction all season.
Annually before the drying season, with fines cleared continuously during it. Verify the moisture sensor against oven-tested reference samples rather than trusting the display — the whole economics of drying depend on that one number.
